Bringing Easter to life with Augmented Reality

If you’re looking for some springtime fun, look no further. We’ve compiled five of the season's most fun AR activations. From global easter egg hunts with Cadbury, to a springtime beard from one of our Blend Market creators, Ross Wakefield. AR filters and apps are a great way to give something back to your audience, provide them with a fun and immersive experience, and receive some sharable user-generated content too.

Cadbury's Worldwide Hide

Cadbury "Worldwide Hide" takes us on a global easter egg hunt. Recognising the limitations of social gatherings, Cadbury along with VCCP are making use of Google Maps Street View for a virtual “Cadbury Worldwide Hide.”

With this new promotion, people can hide Cadbury’s iconic purple chocolate eggs anywhere in the world for a loved one. It takes the usual garden egg hunt and helps you travel the world in search of the Iconic Purple Cadbury Egg, hidden somewhere that is meaningful to you and the hider. Take part here

SpringbeARd from Blend Market creator Ross Wakefield

March's instalment of Ross Wakefield’s 'A Year in Beards' AR filter calendar is Spring themed. In time for Easter, lighter days and warmer weather, the Instagram filter comes complete with green grass and a cute little bunny chasing a butterfly.

Ross comments, “SpringbeARd certainly feels appropriate for the fine weather we are having in the UK,” it’s a seasonal bit of fun for all the family...as long as they like beards! Get your SpringbeARd here

Make a Wish with the Red Tulip filter

If you’re interested in bringing Spring to you, and raising awareness for charity at the same time, then try the Make-A-Wish filter Red Tulip filter from Capitola.Social. Make-A-Wish Nederland, which fulfils the wishes of seriously ill children between the ages of 3 and 18, officially launched its very own Make-A-Wish tulip in January, and now with the help of AR the deep red tulips are accessible to all.

Capitola.Social comments, “The AR effect was developed to share some positivity with the Make a Wish bright red Amsterdam tulips. It is part of a campaign with a one-day pop-up tulip shop in the centre of Amsterdam. The Takeaway participated by delivering bouquets of tulips for €1,- and all proceeds went to the Make-A-Wish foundation”. Bring Red Tulips into your life here

ARefected's Egg-Head on Snap

ARfected, the AR agency, brings new meaning to the term ‘egg head’ with its latest Easter egg-themed lense on Snapchat. Use the lens to turn your head into a beautifully decorated easter egg, choose from a chick or a bunny and then just have some fun - take a snap and share with friends. Get the lens here. Or challenge yourself to balance an egg on your head in ARfected's latest work for Lidle Netherland.

Host and Augmented Reality Easter Egg Hunt

If you want to make your hunt a little more exciting (immersive) this year then add AR to the mix, augment your garden with bunnies and clues to find the Easter treats. Here are some of the best apps out there to enable you to Host an Augmented Reality Easter Egg Hunt. The (AR) hunt is on!
